FAQs
Can anyone do Pilates?
Answer: Yes! Pilates is a safe low impact workout for all levels and ages. The movements were created to lengthen and tone the body without putting impact on the joints.
Is Pilates like yoga?
Answer: Not really. Pilates is considered a method that was invented during World War II to rehabilitate the body and improve posture and flexibility, all while strengthening the core and spine. Yoga has existed from as far back as the 18th century as a spiritual practice. It incorporates meditation and breathing while holding poses that represent worship of gods in hinduism. They are similar in the fact that they both improve flexibility and strength. Another difference is Pilates exercises will have a constant flow of movement using various body parts through the exercises. Yoga tends to focus on holding poses without any additional movement until you progress to the next pose. Pilates also uses equipment to facilitate movement, while yoga is a stand alone workout on the mat. Pilates can be done on a mat or on the machines.
How soon will I see results?
Answer: Joseph Pilates, the creater of Pilates exercise is known for saying; “in ten sessions you will feel the difference, 20 you will see the difference, and in 30 you’ll have a whole new body.” Additionally, your results depend on your commitment to leading a healthy lifestyle.

I recently started attending classes at Agape Pilates, and I can’t say enough good things about my experience! Uwimana is an incredible instructor who brings a perfect blend of expertise and encouragement to every session. The studio itself is warm and inviting, creating a welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. Each class feels both challenging and rewarding, and I’ve noticed significant improvements in my flexibility and core strength. Uwimana’s passion for Pilates is evident, and her commitment to her students’ progress is truly inspiring.

Uwimana is sensitive to the client's particular needs and customizes routines to address physical needs while avoiding pain/injury. My all around strength and flexibility have improved and I can drive a golf ball 15 yards farther.

I joined this Pilates studio about five months ago and workout 3X/week on the reformer. I am so amazed by my core strength. I have much less chronic pain, seem to be less prone to injury, and I have more energy. The workout is always challenging, with new unknown muscles to tap into! Uwimana is kind, patient and just plain fun to be around.

Before I started taking reformer classes at Agape Pilates, I was very active and eating healthy, but my core was weak, and I had rotator cuff issues in one shoulder. My goals were to strengthen my core and my shoulders and get defined muscles. With Uwimana's knowledgeable and personalized guidance in a small group setting, I have exceeded my goals in a few months, and I'm now seeking new challenges. The workouts are challenging, but Uwimana is so supportive that it makes me willing to try. I have had friends sign up for classes based on the results they've seen me have. It's the best thing I have done for myself, and it's now a regular part of my weekly exercise routine!

I was lucky enough to have early morning private classs with Uwimana. Her training and passion are very apparent, and her calm demeanor and dynamic workouts kept me coming back week after week. Her work ethic is unmatched, and she is one of the best instructors I’ve had in my 8+ years of practicing pilates.

I have been attending mat classes at Agape Pilates since it opened. Uwimana’s Pilates mat classes are always enjoyable, encouraging a range of movements that work muscles in every part of the body. She provides clear and precise guidance for each move, always delivered in a friendly and supportive way. Uwimana raises the level just enough each time to subtly increase the effort. Over a period of time I’ve found that movements that I once thought challenging (rolling like a ball and teasers) have become easier. She provides modifications and challenges to address everyone’s fitness level in the class. Agape Pilates is a warm, inviting and fun studio!
